Corddry Crossing Hobbies traces its roots back to 1990, when a group of dedicated model railroad enthusiasts came together and began building what would become a truly unique layout. The group eventually moved into the upstairs of the Pocomoke River Canoe Company, where founding members including Barry Laws, Rowland Collins, Charlie McWilliams, Jay (not sure last name), and Sam Smith helped bring the vision to life.
What they created was far more than a simple train layout. It became a one-of-a-kind model railroad, featuring running water, detailed scenery, and an immersive landscape that made the railroad feel alive. That early passion for craftsmanship, creativity, and the hobby itself helped lay the foundation for what Corddry Crossing Hobbies represents today.
In the spring of 2024, the decision was made to close the original location due to concerns over the building’s steep stairway and the safety challenges it presented. Rather than let the club and its traditions come to an end, a group of the younger members stepped up with a determination to keep it going.
The club moved into a new, smaller location, and while the space was a downsize, it gave us the opportunity to continue the hobby in a safer and more practical setting. One major improvement was climate control, allowing the layout and club to operate year-round instead of being limited by seasonal conditions.
To help cover the cost of rent and keep the club sustainable, a hobby shop was built around the layout. What began as a way to keep the lights on has grown into an important part of Corddry Crossing Hobbies, helping support the club while giving local hobbyists a place to find trains, supplies, and a community that continues the tradition started decades ago.

Today, Corddry Crossing Hobbies is located on Green Street in Historic Downtown Snow Hill, Maryland. We opened as a new start-up in August 2024, and we are continuing to build our presence on Maryland’s Lower Eastern Shore while growing a shop centered around the hobbies we enjoy.
We specialize in model trains and hobby supplies, with products for G, O, HO, and N scale model railroaders. We work directly with manufacturers including MTH Electric Trains and Atlas Model Railroad Company to bring our customers new releases, popular items, and hard-to-find products.
If you don’t see what you’re looking for in stock, just ask. We’re always happy to see if we can order it for you. We also accept pre-orders from many manufacturers, helping customers reserve upcoming releases before they arrive.
And be sure to check out our CCH Custom Runs. These special releases are a big part of what makes Corddry Crossing Hobbies unique, with models inspired by railroad history, local connections, and subjects you may not find anywhere else.
